Winemaker Valentin Montanet has nothing to prove, so he makes easy-to-enjoy Burgundy with all of us in mind. His remote 54-acre estate is south of Chablis and northwest of Burgundy's most expensive vineyards in the Côte de Nuits; the commune of Vézelay is where he crafts soulful Chardonnay and Pinot Noir like this Bourgogne Rouge. Think of it as a juicy, fruity, unfiltered wine with natural touches from wild fermentation in steel before softening for 8 months in 228-liter barrels. You can pair this Pinot with almost anything, from tuna & salmon to chicken & steak.
