Brunello di Montalcino requires no introduction for connoisseurs, but occasionally people need to be reminded of how wonderful and accessible Brunello is, especially when properly aged. Tiziano Ciacci, his wife Alessandra Mililotti, and her daughter Pamela are making some legendary yet affordable Brunello that flies under the radar. This 100% estate Sangiovese is fermented in steel and aged in large Slavonian (Croatian) casks for one year, followed by an additional two years in large French oak casks. After 4 years of bottle-aging, the 2018 is just entering maturity. Expect a full-bodied wine with notes of herbs, fresh flowers, bramble berries, candied orange, lavender, balsamic, nectarines, and cherries, complemented by velvety tannins and bright acidity. Drink this over the next ten years. If you're still not convinced, there are other Mocali Sangiovese to try, but we're pretty sure you'll fall in love with Brunello.
