Chiroubles (shee-roob-bluh) is not as famous or widely available as other cru Beaujolais, but it is one of the most sought-after by those who appreciate intensely perfumed Gamay. Named after his granddaughter, “Cuvée Léa” is Guy Breton's single high-altitude parcel, Lieu-dit Javernand, of 60-year-old vines planted in granite soils. Everything is done according to traditional farming and vinification, with hand-harvested, whole clusters spontaneously fermented in tanks, and aging for 10 months in neutral barrels. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, with low sulfites. Cuvee Lea is supremely floral and aromatic with notes of strawberry, raspberry, violets, roses, and spice over soft tannins and high acidity.
