If it weren't for second careers, there would be many fewer interesting wines in the world. Before moving to the Loire Valley, Noëlla Morantin lived in Brittany and was pursuing another occupation, but she caught the wine bug and interned with Agnès & René Mosse, then went on to make wine at Clos Roche Blanche. With all her bona fides in place, Noëlla rented vines until acquiring 12 acres to make a variety of organic, low-intervention red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines -- all classified as Vin de France. Named after Noëlla's two grandmothers, Marie-Rose is a vintage Pet-nat disgorged after 24 months. Dry and complex with notes of cassis, blood orange, fennel, raspberry, and wild strawberry. Unfined and unfiltered with no added sulfites.
