The De Bartoli family began as, and remains, producers of fine Marsala -- not the cheap stuff used for cooking, but the original old-school il perpetuum made for centuries until the rest of us discovered it. The traditional white grape for Marsala is Grillo, and that's what Marco and his kids Renato, Sebastiano, and Giusippina use in Terzavia Metodo Classico. Crafted the same as Champagne, Terzavia is 100% whole-cluster vintage 2021 Grillo fermented with native yeast and vinified primarily in steel with 20% aged in old oak. The wine was bottled in 2022 and spent 18 months on the lees before hand disgorgement in 2024. Unique and seductive with notes of golden raisins, tropical fruit, salted lime, and lots of seaside minerals.
