The wines of Le Marie are so impressive that we like to sell them in pairs, this Nebbiolo and a Bianco blend of Muscat/Malvasia. The Pinerolese DOC is probably new to most people: it is an obscure region west of Turin, near France, nestled among national parks on both sides of the border. The Nebbiolo is gathered from Barge in the hamlet of Assarti, destemmed and macerated for 5-7 days, wild fermented, and then aged 18 months in large oak barrels. Although the alcohol is 13.5%, there is freshness behind flavors of violets, wild berries, baking spices, cocoa, and pepper over soft tannins. Served chilled.
