Giulia Negri makes tiny amounts of her Barolo. Most are priced closer to the $100 range, which makes Pian delle Mole such a fantastic deal at $38. The fruit is from the high hillsides of La Morra and vinified into a ready-to-drink style of "everyday Barolo" with a definite influence of Burgundy, which Negri loves. Notes of dried flowers, forest floor, and dense red berries with high acids and medium tannins. There are fewer than 4 acres of fruit for Pian delle Mole, and few cases are exported; grab some while you can before this vintage runs out.
