The concept of land used exclusively for vines is relatively modern. In the old days, farms usually had mixed crop arrangements with animals, pollinators (bees & bats), and complementary food products. In western Sicily, closer to Tunisia than mainland Italy, the Adragna family farms 15 hectares of grapes and another 15 of fruit, grains, olives, and veggies. P22 is their young-vine Perricone (aka Pignatello), fermented/aged in stainless steel for 6 months, and bottled unfined/unfiltered. If you haven't already, try Perricone! Criante's P22 is juicy, summery, and vibrant with dark berries and spice. Best of all, it's so easy to pair with a variety of foods. Just remember, "the things that grow together, go together," so we're thinking pasta topped with fresh tomato, beans, anchovy, and a hefty dose of green olive oil. 12% ABV.
