Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur is a decades-long merger between the two Burgundian wine legacies. Vincent Bitouzet and wife Anne Prieur own nearly 30 acres spread among crus and Lieu-dits throughout Volnay, Meursault, and Puligny-Montrachet. We take any wine they offer us, but it's not much. Even the Bourgogne-level wines are built from primo fruit, so you can get a taste of amazing terroir for a fraction of the cost. Their Passetoutgrains is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir (planted in 1974) and 30% Gamay (planted in 1953) sourced from "Grange le Duc”, a vineyard bordering Volnay. After one year in small barrels, this lifted rouge is singing with the complexity of high-grade Pinot fleshed out by aromatic, juicy Gamay. 2023 is elegant, dense, yet lifted with lots of structured dark fruit, high acids, and the stuffing to evolve as it aerates. Serve cool.
