The Torres family is in its fifth generation of winemaking, with a history that dates back to the 16th century. They began producing wine in Penedes in 1870 but have wineries across Spain's grandest regions, including Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and Priorat. Although Penedes is best known for its sparkling Cava, this region in Catalonia benefits from the sun & sea to grow excellent red varietals like this Cabernet, blended with a little Tempranillo and aged for a minimum of 12 months in French oak. The moment we tasted Gran Coronas, we knew it was going to be a hit because of its price, pedigree, and palate. It's a cross between California and Bordeaux, with a medium body, notes of cassis & dark fruit, structured oak tannins, balanced acids, and hints of old leather-bound books.
