Nestled between Chiroubles to the south and Moulin-à-Vent to the north, Fleurie actually combines the lighter, nuanced properties of Chiroubles and the fuller-bodied age-worthiness of Moulin-à-Vent. However, Pierre-Marie & Jean-Étienne Chermette's 2020 Fleurie favors the latter with 14.5% ABV. As a neighbor to Clos de la Roilette, the lieu-dit of Les Garants produces a big, bold wine with dense plums, black cherries, root beer, savory herbs, pomander ball, smoked meat, and earth notes. You can start decanting Les Garants this year, but it will age another three decades in the magnum bottle. This is a superb value for $69.
