Located in the Muses Valley of southern mainland Greece, the estate is in its third generation of winemaking. The second generation under Athanasios Zacharias actually rediscovered this nearly extinct grape, and we're grateful because it’s a testament to the elegance and variety of Greek red wine. This is 100% Mouhtaro grown at the foot of mythical Helicon Mountain in sandy/clay/loam soils; aging is done in old 225L barrels for one year, yielding a soft, lush, expressive fuller medium-bodied red that leaps out of the glass with notes of blackberry, violets, and citrus. Tannins are soft and the ABV is a mere 13%. Pair with grilled lamb, steak, and Loukaniko sausage with fennel and orange peel. An Italian fennel sausage works too.
