Karim Vionnet is the adopted son of both Marie & Josef Vionnet and Morgon. Initially, he was advised to downplay his North African lineage (perhaps not using Karim on the label?), but he has come to fully embrace his Arabic heritage. In fact, Beur is a play on the word "Arabe" in French, but he is comfortable being on Beaujolais's rebellious side, along with people like Jean Foillard and Guy Breton. Unlike some other Beaujolais Blanc we've tasted, Karim's is dry, natural, lean, crisp, unfined/unfiltered, steel-fermented, and loaded with minerals and apples.
