Fundamental Red is a Rhone blend with a bit of extra California oomph. Tensley ferments Central Coast Syrah, Grenache, plus a little Mourvedre for depth and Viognier for perfume in steel before aging for eight months in French oak (14% new). This a fuller-bodied wine with lots of blackberries, wild herbs, Amaro, and savory earth notes. Pair with duck confit, grilled lamb with herbs, skirt steak, BBQ, and bean casseroles with smoked meats.
