While Stefano Perrone specializes in some of the best Moscato ever made, he decided to add a new sweet-sparkler to his portfolio. In the late 90s, he purchased two old-vine Barbera vineyards, and in 2001, he made his first cuvée of Bigaro. Meaning 'speckled' in Piedmontese, 'bigaro' refers to the delicate ruby color of this 50/50 blend of Brachetto & Moscato. This small-production wine has a very loyal year-round following, but it's especially well-suited for the holidays. Medium-bodied, semi-sweet, fizzy. Red Brachetto adds depth, body, and red berry fruit to the lush tropical notes of the Muscat. Bigaro is made in exactly the same way as Perrone's Moscato and is similar in terms of its low sugar level, low alcohol, and creamy bubbles. Pair with sorbets, hazelnut or chestnut desserts, fruit tarts. Half-bottle.
