Cala Cala is a unique take on traditional Sicilian varietals. It's a multi-vintage blend of 95% Nerello Mascalese and 5% Nerello Cappuccio from vines planted on Mount Etna's slopes. Then, Massimiliano Calabretta takes wine from his long-aging single vintages and makes this ready-to-drink NV Vino da Tavola at nearly half the price of his other bottlings. Aged in large barrels and steel, "Cala Cala" means "Gulp, Gulp," so gulp some. Notes of cherry, spice, orange peel, coffee, smoked meat, and dusty red fruit on the palate. Pair with grilled meats, nightshade vegetables, and pasta Puttanesca.
