Method Spirits Vermouth is the brainchild of Cory Fitzsimmons, a former head bartender at Union Square Cafe. When he realized New York State produced everything but fine vermouth, Cory drafted his sommelier and bartender friends as test subjects until this gaping omission was corrected. Like the great vermouths of Turin and Chambery, Method requires a meticulous process of combining wine from Malvin Muscat and Catawba-based brandy (both from the Finger Lakes) with 29 herbs, spices, and other botanicals until the flavors are singing and balanced. Look for notes of cola, wormwood, orris root, orange zest, chamomile, tarragon, menthol, hyssop, fennel seed, clove, nutmeg, cocoa, and Madagascar vanilla. We love this on the rocks, with a bit of sparkling wine or mixed into a Negroni. We also carry Method Dry Vermouth.
