Varnelli Amaro is an example of craftsmanship that goes back to 1868. Founded by Girolamo Varnelli in the Marche region, the company is in its fourth generation and continues to uphold artisanal traditions, such as grinding secret ingredients with a mortar and pestle, sweetening with honey, and heating in kettles over a wood fire. This unfiltered Amaro is tannic, aromatic, and loaded with spice, dried fruit, honey, gentian, rhubarb, and cedar. The pleasantly bitter finish clings to the tongue, making it an excellent digestif and palate refresher. Varnelli Amaro comes in an old-school flip-top liter bottle placed in a nice box — a perfect gift for any fan of bitter concoctions. 42 proof.
