The name might be a tongue-twister, but Alwin & Stefanie Jurtschitsch (yoort-sh-itch) make their Niederösterreich (Lower Austria) Rosé vom Zweigelt (tsv-eye-gelt) easy to enjoy. Niederösterreich encompasses Vienna in north-eastern Austria and includes many of the top regions for Grüner Veltliner, a bit of Riesling, and several red varietals. After a quick fermentation, organic Zweigelt is finished in steel for a pale, medium-bodied, dry, crisp wine with notes of citrus zest, red berries, apricot, and melon. Serve as an aperitif or pair with antipasto, pasta, chicken, fish, and cheese boards. The perfect quaff for late summer and early fall.
