The Brunier family maintains a few labels around the Rhône Valley. The most famous is their flagship winery founded in 1898, Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieux Telegraphe, but they also produce Le Pigeoulet in the Vaucluse at the edge of Provence. The hand-harvested blend is mostly old-vine Grenache complemented with Syrah, Cinsault, and Carignan — all fermented and aged in cement and large oak barrels. Le Pigeoulet is purple and fuller-bodied with spice, garrigue, black fruit, and herbs. Pair it like you would any other Côtes du Rhône.
