Tempier is the standard-bearer for Bandol, producing white, rosé, and several red wines composed of single vineyards: La Migoua, La Tourtine, and Cabassaou. As the new name for the Classic entry-level rouge, Cuvée Lulu et Lucien is the usual blend of vineyards and slightly younger vines (40+ years), 75% Mourvèdre, 14% Grenache, 9% Cinsault, 2% Carignan, aged in oak foudres (25 to 50 hl) for 18 to 20 months. There's a misconception that Bandol Rouge is only for winter, but how cold does it get near the Riviera? The average temperature is about 50°F in December. Although Bandols can age for decades, they really are year-round wines. Try this structured, fruity, dusty, herbal, minerally red with your next grilled steak or leg of lamb. Bottled unfined and unfiltered at 14% ABV.
