Iruai Winery (ear-oo-eye) is a really cool winery run by cool people in the northern reaches of the densely forested Shasta-Cascade mountains bordering southern Oregon and its Siskiyou Mountains. The Alps of California, combined with the rugged terrain of the open plains, is where Chad and Michelle Westbrook Hinds decided to make their wild wines. Now, just across the border is Oregon's Applegate Valley, the source for this year's Gamay rosé. This *off-dry* Gamay has depth, structure, and plenty of acid to balance its peachy, melon, candied citrus fruit -- finally, a wine for our White Zinfandel fans!!! Iruai only made 28 cases; we got three, so if you love it, grab some extra bottles. By the way, the winery is so small that they decided to use last year's labels, so don't be perturbed by the stickers covering the previous vintage.
