The House of Gatinois is another one of our under-the-radar finds that surpasses most big brands in quality and flavor. After twelve generations, Gatinois remains under family leadership, with Louis Gatinois overseeing 17 acres of vineyards in the Vallée de Marne village of Äy (ah-yee). Tradition Brut is a blend of 80% Pinot Noir (specifically the small local clone Petit Pinot d’Ay) and Chardonnay aged in steel tanks before bottling. The result is creamy yet crisp cherry fruit with spice, minerals, and balanced acids behind a soft, frothy mousse. Enjoy Gatinois with meat, poultry, charcuterie, and cheeses.
